When faster media matters
Everyday recommendation
UHS-II SDXC is practical for stills and supported compressed video; CFexpress offers access to every recording family.
Demanding recommendation
CFexpress Type B VPG400 or ample sustained performance for the selected 8K or high-frame-rate quality.
Canon directs 8K and selected 4K settings to CFexpress and publishes a per-mode performance table for both card slots.
Plan the complete workflow
Capacity
SD, SDHC, SDXC, and CFexpress Type B are supported. Large 8K files make capacity planning especially important.
Reader
Use a Type B reader and a separate UHS-II SD reader unless your reader supports both slots.
Three checks worth making
- Type A and Type B are not interchangeable.
- Not every 8K or 4K option records to SD.
- Low-level format and test cards before important movie work.
