When faster media matters
Everyday recommendation
U3/V30 SDXC for many 4K settings and general still photography.
Demanding recommendation
V60 UHS-II SDXC for 4K 50/60p 10-bit and Full HD 150/180p 10-bit IPB Standard.
The same resolution and frame rate may call for U3 in 8-bit but V60 in 10-bit Canon Log 3 or HDR PQ.
Plan the complete workflow
Capacity
Canon supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC regardless of capacity. SDXC avoids FAT32's 4GB file splitting.
Reader
Use a UHS-II SD reader for the fastest supported offload path.
Three checks worth making
- There is no second in-camera backup slot.
- 10-bit high-frame-rate capture raises the speed requirement.
- Test the exact movie mode before a critical shoot.
