When faster media matters
Everyday recommendation
U3/V30 SDXC for most 4K 8-bit settings and general still photography.
Demanding recommendation
V60 UHS-II SDXC for 4K 50/60p 10-bit Canon Log 3 or HDR PQ recording.
Canon specifies V60 or higher for 4K 50/60p IPB Standard in 10-bit; the 8-bit version can use U3.
Plan the complete workflow
Capacity
Canon supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC regardless of capacity; use matching cards for duplicate recording.
Reader
Use a UHS-II reader to preserve faster ingest from UHS-II cards.
Three checks worth making
- Both cards must meet the mode requirement for duplicate movie recording.
- Bit depth changes the required class at the same frame rate.
- SDXC is preferable for long files over FAT32 SDHC.
